What Exactly is E20?

E20 fuel is a blend consisting of 20% ethanol and 80% petrol. Ethanol is a biofuel generally derived from sugarcane and agricultural waste. While it sounds like an eco-friendly transition, the rapid and forced rollout of E20 across fuel stations is severely impacting millions of innocent vehicle owners.

The Pros: Who Benefits?

  • The Environment: Slightly reduces tailpipe emissions and carbon footprint compared to pure fossil fuels.
  • The Economy: Reduces the nation's dependency on imported crude oil, saving foreign exchange.
  • The Industry: Heavily profits sugarcane farmers, sugar mills, and the ethanol manufacturing sector.

The Cons: Who Suffers?

  • Older Vehicles (Pre-2023): Engines designed for E10 or lower blends cannot handle 20% ethanol.
  • Corrosion: Ethanol is highly corrosive and hygroscopic (absorbs water), which eats away at metal engine components.
  • Rubber Degradation: It literally melts rubber fuel lines, seals, and gaskets, leading to costly fuel pump failures.
  • Mileage Drop: Ethanol has lower energy density than petrol, resulting in a noticeable drop in fuel efficiency.

The Logical Disconnect: Why We Protest

We are not against green energy or national progress. However, there are glaring logical loopholes in the forced rollout of E20 that the common tax-paying citizen is being forced to pay for.

1. Where is the Price Drop?

Ethanol is significantly cheaper to produce than pure petrol. If the government is now mixing 20% of this cheaper ethanol into our fuel, why hasn't the retail price of petrol decreased for the consumer? Why are we paying premium pure-petrol prices for a diluted, 80% petrol mixture?

2. The "Compatibility" Contradiction

If E20 is completely safe for all engines as claimed, why are automobile manufacturers specifically building new "E20 Compatible" engines with upgraded, corrosion-resistant parts? Why do new vehicles come with strict warning stickers on their fuel caps?

3. Demand for a Written Guarantee

If authorities insist that E20 will not harm our older, hard-earned vehicles, we demand a written guarantee or a government-backed insurance policy. If our fuel pumps, injectors, or rubber hoses fail due to ethanol corrosion, the repair costs should not fall on the consumer.

Lab Test Demands

We are raising funds to conduct independent, third-party laboratory tests on engine components that have failed after prolonged use of E20 fuel. These technical reports will form the basis of Public Interest Litigations (PILs) to protect consumer rights.
